Bio:

Sheil Shukla, DO, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and food artist. He is the creator, recipe developer, and food photographer of @plantbasedartist on Instagram. His culinary interests are in South Asian and East Asian cuisines, including the regional “thali” tradition of Gujarat, India; this is explored in more depth in his debut cookbook, Plant-Based India: Nourishing Recipes Rooted in Tradition, which was named one of the New York Times best cookbooks of 2022 and nominated for a James Beard Award. He practices medicine in Illinois and is passionate about plant-based nutrition and its applications to clinical medicine. He lives in Chicagoland with his wife, Rachel, and three children.
