Bio:
Dr. Leslie Mendoza Temple serves as Medical Director of the Integrative Medicine Program at NorthShore University HealthSystem. She is a board-certified Family Medicine physician who cares for adults, children, pregnant mothers, and infants.
Following Family Medicine residency training at Northwestern University Medical School, she completed 2-year fellowships in Faculty Development at Northwestern University and Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, led by Andrew Weil, MD. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Her program is a training center for medical students and residents to gain experience in integrative therapies like nutrition, exercise, mind-body therapies, Traditional Chinese Medicine, supplements, homeopathy, and cannabinoids combined thoughtfully with conventional medicine. She leads one of the most experienced teams of integrative physicians, nurses, licensed acupuncturists, massage therapists, and nutritionists in the country, including a natural products pharmacy.
From 2014-2016, Dr. Temple served as Chair of the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board (MCAB) for the Illinois Department of Public Health, appointed by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn. She rejoined the MCAB in 2023. She also served as Chair of the Policy Working Group for the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health, a group of 75 academic health centers in the United States and other countries to promote the field in healthcare through research, clinical, education and policy work.
