Dr Mary Farhi is double board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Integrative Medicine. She is a certified menopause practitioner from the North American Menopause Society (now the Menopause Society) and is also a certified Functional Medicine practitioner through the Institute of Functional Medicine. She has pursued studies in yoga and mindfulness and is a registered yoga teacher. Her broad range of interests and studies inform her comprehensive practice for her patients in helping them achieve optimal wellness and health.
She currently practices at Rush University in the Oak Brook location, providing integrative gynecologic care and menopausal medicine for the Rush community. She serves as a referral source for the department and university for menopause, hormonal imbalances, sexual dysfunction and integrative and functional medicine. She is a referral source for transgender care and is part of the multidisciplinary committee on sexual health for cancer patients.
Dr Farhi decided to transition from private practice in order to continue to pursue her interests in integrative gynecologic care, as well as her passion for teaching. She wanted to give back to the next generation of healthcare providers. She currently teaches the Ob/Gyne content in the preclinical years at Rush University Medical School. Additionally Dr Farhi supervises and teaches medical students and resident physicians in the clinical environment. She has won numerous awards for her teaching since joining Rush University. She also continues to lecture nationally as well as in her community on menopause and creating wellness and health.
She was recognized early in her career in the community as an integrative practitioner and has been a sought after lecturer. Chicago magazine listed her as one of the best new integrative doctors in 2002. She has been recognized annually as a Top Doc by Chicago Magazine since 2021 as well as Castle Connelly Exceptional Women in Medicine since 2020.
